Tesla is applying for a new project called "Giga Texas LCRA PERMANENT SWITCHYARD BESS" for the Texas Gigafactory, according to a new document filed with the city of Austin, Texas at the time.

On August 9 this year, the city of Austin officially approved the project, which will use Tesla's commercial battery called Megapack. The specific capacity has not yet been determined, but the listed area is 53.27 acres. According to foreign media, Tesla hopes to use this energy storage project to cope with the changing climate environment in Texas and ensure stable production at the factory, which is the main reason why Tesla has deployed a large-scale battery energy storage project in the factory.
