US start-up energy storage system to debut

Franklin Whole Home will unveil its first product, a residential energy storage solution, next week at Intersolar, the North American solar technology exhibition in California.

The system designer is Franklin Whole Home, an American company headquartered in San Francisco, with a production base in Shenzhen, China. This FranklinWH system integrates a lithium iron phosphate "aPower" battery with artificial intelligence as part of the accompanying aGate intelligent control system.

The company says the 13.6 KWh battery is compatible with any PV inverter technology and can be connected to existing solar systems. It can be expanded to 15 devices with a total capacity of 204 KWh. In the event of a power outage, its power-off start function can create a microgrid for the home.

The artificial intelligence capabilities in the aGate control system enable it to manage complex load situations, which secures the main panel and also enables homeowners to integrate three additional high-load systems, such as HVAC, pool heating, or EV charging . The app prompts homeowners to modify power consumption settings when needed, or use its smart output feature to send power back to the grid during peak hours.

Franklin Whole Home said the system does not involve assembly, noting that there is no need to upgrade the home electrical box. In addition, aGate's advanced monitoring capabilities can help installers pinpoint and resolve faults remotely. Franklin Home power solutions are backed by a 12-year warranty and a Det Norske Veritas (DNV) feasibility report. A device costs about $10,000.

Franklin Whole Home will celebrate the company's new UL certification and proof-of-feasibility milestones with a public event at Intersolar's booth 1059 on January 13 at 10 a.m. Representatives from CSA Group, Intertek and DNV will be present at the event.

Founded in 2019, the company employs a team of leading energy storage and power electronics experts with more than 30 patents pending.
